Lundiefest began as a gathering of just 6 – 8 Lundehund owners who would get together at Cliffhanger to share the experience of living with their six-toed friends. Each year since then it has grown and brought with it something unique and wonderful, just like the Lundehund. In 2003, Thomas Rosskamp flew all the way from Zurich to attend Lundiefest and pick up his puppy, Cliffhanger Daphne. The 2004 Lundiefest brought a team of canine geneticists, headed by Dr. Mark Neff, to kick off the DNA study of Lundehunds being conducted at the University of California at Davis, one of the premier veterinary schools in the country. With 2005 came the largest Lundehund gathering ever at Cliffhanger and likely the largest ever in the United States, with 55 people and 46 Lundehunds. Always held on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend (the last weekend in May) with great food and drink, we look forward to seeing what 2006 brings.
